TCP is a mild antiseptic, produced in France by Laboratoires Chemineau in Vouvray and sold in the United Kingdom by Omega Pharma. TCP was introduced in 1918. The brand name comes from its original chemical name, which was trichlorophenylmethyliodosalicyl (not to be confused with trichlorophenol, a common fungicide).
Usage
For relief of sore throat symptoms: gargle twice a day with TCP diluted with 5 parts water. DO NOT swallow. For relief of mouth ulcers: dab undiluted three times a day. Should symptoms persist for more than 14 days, consult your doctor or dentist. For cuts, grazes, bites and stings: dilute with an equal quantity of water and apply freely. In emergencies may be used undiluted. For boils, spots, pimples: dab lightly, undiluted, every 4 hours and do not cover.
